A fire broke out on the roof of the Se-Port Deli/Samantha Drew building Wednesday afternoon in East Setauket, briefly shutting down Main Street.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Setauket Fire Department Third Assistant Chief Tom Makarius.
The Setauket Fire Department arrived at the scene at 305 Main St. at 1:26 p.m., Makarius said, and extra units from Centereach, Port Jefferson, Stony Brook and Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps. were to standby at Setauket Fire Headquarters, located just up the street from the blaze.
Carol Gibbons, merchandising manager for design and furniture store Samantha Drew, said she didn’t see flames, “just smoke in the building.” The fire burned away a portion of the roof above the store.
Se-Port Deli, which shares the building with Samantha Drew, was not affected by the fire, according to Makarius.
Fire officials said no injuries were reported.
