Eileen Hummel, Neighbor

Eileen Hummel is the owner and director of Imagination Pre-School.

Eileen has over 30 years experience teaching on the early childhood level and ten years teaching at Imagination Pre-School. She received her Bachelor of Science at Long Island University in 1969, majoring in Elementary Education and her Master of Science in Continuing Education at Stony Brook University in 1983. 

Prior to owning Imagination Pre-School, Eileen worked as director and head teacher at a local nursery school for seven years. During this time she was also owner and director of Setauket Day Camp in the same location. In previous years Eileen taught in other local pre-schools and worked as a substitute teacher in Middle Country, Port Jefferson, Commack and Kings Park School Districts. She also taught Head Start and First Grade in Brooklyn. 

Over the years Eileen has personally taught hundreds of pre-schoolers in Brookhaven and Smithtown and is known as “Miss Eileen” in the community.

Eileen is a member of the Three Village Chamber of Commerce and is on the Board of Directors. In June 2004 she was given the award of “Chamber Member of the Year” for the many toys collected at the annual holiday toy drive. These toys are given out by Santa and others, including Eileen, to children in the hospital in December.
