It's just the latest in a series of bigtime media mentions for the Stony Brook baseball team, which before their still-in-progress postseason run would mostly make headlines in Newsday and the hometown papers of the teams they beat.
Recent highlights have included a SportsCenter segment in which Stony Brook was dubbed a "newfound celebrity."

The team's successes have also wrought more attention for Stony Brook athletics as a whole. The New York Times on Wednesday published a story titled "For Stony Brook, Baseball is Just the Latest Success Story"
