Seawolves Upset UMass for First-Ever National Postseason Win. Anthony Jackson and Dave Coley each scored 20 points for Stony Brook as the No. 7 seeded Seawolves upended No. 2 UMass on Wednesday, 71-58, in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). Jameel Warney added 16 points and Tommy Brenton added 6 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for Stony Brook (25-7), who will play No. 3 seed Iowa on Friday at 9:30 p.m. Eastern live on ESPNU.
Women's Lacrosse Blows Past Iona. Demmianne Cook scored seven goals and Claire Petersen posted three goals and five assists in a 21-3 win over Iona. Michelle Rubino added three goals and three assists for Stony Brook (6-2), which is ranked No. 15/16 in national polls and has won five out of its last six games.
Baseball Falls to Rhode Island 8-4. The Seawolves fell behind early and never caught up. Johnny Caputo posted a three-hit, one-run, one-RBI performance and Michael Roehrig came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Seawolves (6-13).
