Freshman off to Hot Start with Stony Brook Baseball

Jack Parenty named America East Conference 'Rookie of the Week.'

Jack Parenty, a freshman on the Stony Brook University baseball team, was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday following some hot hitting.

Parenty, a Wantagh native and graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, hit .533 in four games last week for the Seawolves. In 15 at-bats, Parenty smashed eight hits, including a double and triple. The week was highlighted by a 6-for-8 performance in a doubleheader against America East rival Binghamton on Saturday.

For the season, the 5-9 150-pound Parenty is hitting .393, which is good for second-best in the America East. He leads Stony Brook in runs scored with 11.
