The fourth annual BENCH 5K run/walk and fun run to help fight pediatric cancer and benefit patients being treated at Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital will take place in Stony Brook on May 12. This event supports Play Fit-Stay Fit!, a program that provides physical activity, nutrition education, and psychosocial counseling to child survivors of cancer and their families. A fun run starts at 8:45 AM followed by 5K run/walk at 9:30 a.m. at The Bench Bar & Grill located at 1095 Rt. 25A. This year’s run includes wheelchair, arm cycle, SBUMC/SBU employee, zipper, Clydesdale, and cancer survivor divisions.
The certified 5K race course, which begins and ends at The Bench, goes through historic Stony Brook Village and alongside Stony Brook Harbor. Following the run/walk all participants can enjoy free live entertainment and free food and beverages provided by The BENCH Bar & Grill and Michelob Ultra.
Pre-race registration is $25 per person. Registration after May 8 is $30 per person. Registration includes a New Balance tech t-shirt and drawstring backpack.
