10 Chances to Root for Your Home Team This Week

Here's a lineup of hometown school games to check out.

The fall sports season is in full swing across town, and between Monday and Saturday, you can catch your local sports teams in action. Here's a few Patch picks for games to watch.

1. On Monday, Longwood visits Ward Melville for a varsity girls' soccer game at 4:15 p.m.

2. On Tuesday, Sachem East visits Ward Melville for a varsity field hockey game at 4:15 p.m.

3. Root for the varsity boys' volleyball team on Wednesday, when Lindenhurst visits Ward Melville for a 6 p.m. game.

4. Root (quietly) for your favorite home team when Ward Melville and Stony Brook School face off in a varsity boys' golf match on Wednesday at the Stone Bridge course.

5. Cheer on Ward Melville's varsity girls' swim team on Thursday, when Harborfields visits for a 4 p.m. contest.

6. Watch Stony Brook School's boys' soccer team take on Port Jefferson in a 7 p.m. game at SBS on Thursday.

7. Also on Thursday, check out a varsity girls' volleyball match when McGann-Mercy visits Stony Brook School at 4:30 p.m.

8. The Stony Brook School football team will play Greenport/Southold/Mattituck/Shelter Island in a 7 p.m. game under the lights at Greenport on Friday.

9. Support Ward Melville in its on Saturday at 2 p.m., where they'll take on William Floyd.

10. Watch the Seawolves take on Lafayette in Stony Brook University's , set for 6 p.m. at LaValle Stadium.

I agree..maybe that is one of the reasons road pavement safety lines and striping esp. in the 3VRead More area are virtually non existent!! VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION that leaves the TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN liable involving accidents and fatalities. I think the new T.O.B. highway super, (D. L.) should make this a priority!

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.
