Ward Melville boys and girls fencing entered Monday's matches against Commack undefeated, and that's how they left.
The Commack teams entered the matches against Ward Melville with 6-1 records. The girls of Commack (6-2), who have not defeated Ward Melville (8-0) in 11 years according to a Newsday report [subscription required], started off strong. Ward Melville took three straight matches before losing six straight, but then came back to ultimately defeat their opponent 15-12.
The Commack boys squad (6-2) also battled with Ward Melville (8-0), but ultimately fell 16-11.
