Three Village Schools Announce Modified Dismissal

School district prepares as Mother Nature sends a nor'easter into the area.

Three Village School District officials are starting to ready for early dismissals and cancellations of programs due to a .

According to an email from Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich, school officials "have been informed that some trees and wires have recently fallen obstructing various roadways."

The following dismissal schedule will take place on Wednesday:

  • Ward Melville High School- at 1:15 pm.
  • Murphy and Gelinas Junior High Schools –at 2 pm.
  • Minnesauke and Nassakeag Elementary Schools-at 2:50 pm, which is 8 minutes earlier than normal.
  • Arrowhead, Mount and Setauket Elementary Schools-at their regular dismissal time at 3:40 pm.

"Given the current and anticipated weather conditions, we are encouraging you to make arrangements for someone to meet your child at his/her bus stop," Pedisich wrote. "In addition, if your child is a walker, we also encourage you to consider making arrangements to pick up your child at his/her school."

All afterschool activities are cancelled, however SACC will operate under normal hours, Pedisich noted.
