School Supe: Education Forum Open to Public, Invite Not Needed

Forum slated for Nov. 12 at Ward Melville High School.

A total of 36 speakers will have a chance to address New York State Education Commissioner John B. King at an education forum being held on Nov. 12 at Ward Melville High School, one of four being held on Long Island.

According to Cheryl Pedisich, District Superintendent for Three Village Schools, the forum is open to the public and no invitation is needed. The event will be held in the school auditorium, which seats 950 people. Pedesich said the school is working to set up a live stream of the event into the school cafeteria, which would accommodate another 550 people.

According to Pedisich,  speakers will be made up of three representatives from each school district that falls within state Sen. John Flanagan’s district for a total of 36 speakers. There will be no questions from the audience. The forum is open to members of other districts.

“We are very excited to be able to host the event,” said Pedisich. “It is a topic that has generated a great deal of concern from parent groups and educators across the country. We consider it an honor and a privilege.”
