Resident Advisor: Ways to Get Active on Campus

Athletic and performance clubs, as well as athletic teams, are in action this week.

The theme this week is jump into sports and recreation. From Homecoming and Wolfstock to men's soccer and the belly dance club, this is the week to get active.

Monday, Sept. 19
Take a tour of the Frank Melville Memorial Library at 6 p.m. to learn more about the collections and public resources of the library.

Tuesday, Sept. 20
Check out the men's soccer game against Fairfield at 7 p.m. at LaValle stadium.

Wednesday, Sept. 21
If you're thinking of taking a semester in another country, check out the Study Abroad and International Exchange Fair on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the SAC.

Thursday, Sept. 22
The Fencing Team will be holding a recreational club practice at 7 p.m. at the Sports Complex arena. For more information, visit the group's Facebook page.

Did you know SBU has a belly dancing club? The club will be having auditions on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Sports Complex dance studio. For updates, visit the club's Facebook page.

Wolfstock starts at 3 p.m. and the Homecoming football game starts at 6 p.m. at LaValle Stadium.

Sunday, Sept. 25
We'll assume you're going to be recovering from Wolfstock, so our suggestion is to just take it easy and let your headache pass...

Life Off Campus
There's a whole community of places to explore outside of Stony Brook University. For instance: Cuzzin's Smoothie Cafe is on Route 25A a short distance east of Nicolls Road, and Port Jefferson Village has a ton of stuff to see and do. And check out this for the Stony Brook student.

Opportunity Knocks
Students taking WRI 101 and WRI 102 can enter the Program of Writing and Rhetoric's annual essay contest. The deadline is Jan. 30, 2012. For more information, click here.

Dates to Remember
Monday, Sept. 19 is the last day to withdraw from classes and still get a 50 percent refund on tuition. Between Sept. 20 and Sept. 26, withdrawing will yield a 50 percent refund on tuition.
