Report: SBU, Soccer Club Close to Field Use Deal

Village Times Herald reports ongoing negotiations are coming to an end.

Stony Brook University and the Three Village Soccer Club are close to reaching an agreement on the use of the P-Lot soccer fields on campus, according to a report published Wednesday in The Village Times Herald.

Stony Brook spokeswoman Lauren Sheprow told the newspaper that progress has been made in the ongoing negotiations. Mitch Pally, president of the soccer club, told the newspaper that the two sides have reached a conceptual agreement. "Hopefully we will have a full written agreement within two weeks," he said.

Patch previously reported that the University and the soccer club clashed over field use space late in 2012, when it became clear that students required more space for their recreational sports activities. The University has already begun reconfiguring the fields.
