Senior Scores Coveted Siemens Scholarship

Cathy Wang is one of two students in New York State to earn a scholarship from the Siemens Foundation.

"Make sure you fully understand concepts instead of merely memorizing facts."

Those wise words came from Ward Melville High School senior Cathy Wang, one of 101 high school students chosen nationwide – and only one of two from New York State – by the Siemens Foundation to earn a $2,000 scholarship to college for her performance on specific Advanced Placement tests.

Wang, a senior, was a National Merit Semifinalist and plans to study engineering or physics in college, hoping to become a scientist or engineer afterward.
