9/11 Memorial & Speaking Engagement at Stony Brook University

Stony Brook Young Americans for Freedom will remember the anniversary of the September 11 attacks through the organization of a memorial which consists of a display of 2,977 American flags to represent each person murdered ten years ago. We will also host a variety of speakers including FDNY Lt. Joe Torrillo, NYC Councilman Dan Halloran, Stony Brook Students as well as many others who will share their intimate stories of that tragic day.

The Speaking engagement will take place on the SAC Plaza (outside the Student Activity Center) from 12:50-2:20 on Wednesday, September 7th.  All students and community members can view the memorial on the SAC Lawn all day Wednesday.

Many in the campus community have forgotten the vulnerability all Americans felt after witnessing thousands of innocent people murdered by terrorists on September 11, 2001. The 9/11 Memorial will encourage students, alumni, and community members to reflect and remember those who lost their lives defending America.
