Patch recently took a trip inside Ward Melville High School, where construction crews and maintenance workers completed a number of projects over the summer. In addition to the new science wing, the school will open its new music suites and art studio, auditorium, library, fitness center, and more than a dozen renovated classrooms when school starts Sept. 7.
"It either looked like a war zone or an abandoned building" this summer, said Ward Melville principal Dr. Alan Baum, who was confident that the school would be in order for opening day. "It was an incredible sight. It was dark, it was smelly. Extremely dusty."
