Town Finds Stolen Signs During Investigation at Stony Brook Frat House

Boarding house at 150 Christian Avenue continues to be a problem for the town.

Signs stolen from street corners, businesses and the Long Island Rail Road station were discovered at the illegal college boarding house at 150 Christian Avenue in Stony Brook, the Town of Brookhaven announced Friday.

The town filed a criminal complaint with the Suffolk County Police Department following that discovery.

Town investigators also revealed the house was occupied by members of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity – whose Stony Brook University charter was suspended in November of 2012.

The house continues to be a thorn in Brookhaven town's side. The Village Times Herald reported this week that while a state Supreme Court judge banned anyone from living in the house on June 11, 12 cars were parked there on June 21 and the town's raid on Tuesday showed that the house was still occupied.

Patch previously reported that the town hit the owner, North Shore Design Inc.'s Steven Paul Graziano, with 15 misdemeanor summonses and 30 tickets for other violations.

In May, the house – which was not only unkempt but also has been the site of large, disruptive parties over the last few years – was found to be occupied by 17 students; town code currently prohibits more than four unrelated people living together in a single family house.
