The department also on Monday, when storm water runoff was expected to yield higher bacteria levels. Elevated levels of the same bacteria were also found on June 22.

The waters at the beach will be tested again on Wednesday. According to the department, normal tidal flushing generally fixes the problem. A department spokeswoman said beach closures are based on both a single-sample and a mean sample over a 30-day period.
