Renovations on the Horizon for Veterans Home

State facility in Stony Brook gets $16M grant for improvements.

The Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook is the recipient of a $16 million grant for improvements, according to a report in The Village Times.

The grant will facilitate the modernizing of each resident's room and improvements to the home's heating and cooling system, as well as cover the cost of a new emergency generator. It was awarded by both the federal and state governments.

"When you're in assisted living or a nursing home or hospital, the physical setting makes a huge difference," state Sen. John Flanagan, R-Smithtown, told The Village Times.
