Last Chance: Experience a Crash Simulator

The New York State Police Department will offer a demonstration of how an accident feels when not wearing a seatbelt.

In order to raise awareness about the importance of wearing seatbelts when driving, the New York State Police Department will bring its "Seat Belt Convincer" simulator to Stony Brook for one day only.

The free event will take place Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's .

"It allows the rider to experience the surprising amount of force generated with such a low speed collision and to gain respect for the benefit that a seat belt can provide," the Ward Melville Heritage Organization said in a statement.
