E. Setauket Man Charged with Assaulting a Police Officer
Incident took place Wednesday in Nassau County.
Nassau County police have charged an East Setauket man with third degree assault following an incident Wednesday afternoon in Bethpage in which the man allegedly ran over a police officer's foot with his car.
According to police reports, Nikolaos Tsarkalis, 41, received a traffic summons and then immediately turned the steering wheel of his car and veered into the road, running over the officer's foot. The officer received medical treatment at a nearby hospital and was released.
Tsarkalis is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
