Crimes Nearby: Mt. Sinai Woman Leads Police Chase in Coram

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

MILLER PLACE - ROCKY POINT

Emily Hindman, 25, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested Feb. 7 and charged with DWAI drugs, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful fleeing of a police officer, third degree criminal mischief, and second degree reckless endangerment.

A call came in reporting a possible attempted theft of a snow blower by three individuals on Village Drive in Medford at approximately 1:34 a.m. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Forerunner, but it did not stop and the officer pursued. The Toyota continued from Village Drive to westbound Southaven Avenue to northbound on Route 112. Police deployed stop sticks on Route 112, which gave the vehicle two flat tires. The Toyota continued onto Route 25 where it headed east and stopped near Wilson Ave. in Coram. An officer pulled his police car in front of the stopped Toyota, which moved forward and crashed into the police car passenger side.

The driver, Hindman, was the lone occupant and was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

Thomas Dowd, 20, of Holtsville, Shawn Omack, 20, of Ronkonkoma, and Anthony Distasi, 21, of Holbrook, were arrested in Smithtown on charges of second-degree robbery, second-degree physical injury/displaying a firearm and third-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury on Feb. 5. Police said the three allegedly chased a man, threw him to the ground, stole his backpack and kicked and punched him numerous times causing a laceration to the head that required stitches at Stony Brook University Medical Center at 2:05 a.m.

Christopher Papile, of Miller Place, was arrested in Nissequogue on Feb. 6 on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon/firearm and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Papile allegedly possessed a knife and marijuana in a backpack in a 2002 Ford at River Road and Parsins Lane at 1:14 p.m.

PORT JEFFERSON

Noel McPhail, 23, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Crystal Brook Hollow Road in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 7 at 11:10 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of controlled substance and False Personation for giving a fake name. McPhail also had an outstanding bench warrant.

Emilio Torres, 38, of Mount Sinai, was arrested on Chestnut Street in Mt. Sinai on Feb. 6 at 8:27 a.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police say that Torres’ driver’s license was suspended or revoked. Torres also had an outstanding bench warrant.

Mollie Gibson, 18, of Port Jefferson, was arrested in Port Jefferson on Feb. 5 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Gibson allegedly hit another vehicle in the parking lot of Planet Fitness on Route 25A in Rocky Point and left.

On Feb. 3 at 9:30 p.m. someone reported that a 2004 Honda Accord was stolen from a driveway on Autumn Drive in Mount Sinai. The keys were in the vehicle with the car at the time it was taken.

HAUPPAUGE

Robert White Jr., 18, of Islandia, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with petty larceny. Police said White attempted to steal merchandise from Sears in Smith Haven Mall.

Stacia Torelli, 21, of Hauppauge, was arrested Feb. 8 and charged with third-degree grand larceny. Police alleged that Torelli stole iPhones from RadioShack.
