Car Crashes Into Medical Park Building In Stony Brook

A driver at the Stony Brook Medical Park on Nesconset Highway is OK after crashing into building seven at the medical park late Wednesday morning.

According to Brian McAllister, assistant chief of the Stony Brook Fire Department, the crash was caused by an "accidental foot slip" with the car in the wrong gear. The part of the building damaged was the waiting room, which was unoccupied at the time, as well as the counter area, where no one was hurt.

Part of the office was evacuated after the accident, which happened at about 11:15 a.m. The Brookhaven town building inspector will evaluate the structure.

The accident is the second time within the span of a month that a driver crashed into a building at this medical park. On Aug. 20, a Stony Brook woman was charged with DWI after she crashed into building three. In that incident, an elderly couple sitting in the waiting room of that medical office was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
