Arrest Made in Quaker Path Burglary

Police have not released the identity of the man.

Following the investigation of an Oct. 19 burglary at a home on Quaker Path in Stony Brook, Suffolk County police have arrested a man who allegedly had in his possession the jewelry stolen from the home.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property. The man was arrested Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at an undisclosed on Route 25A in Setauket.

According to police reports, the investigation stemmed from an Oct. 19 incident in which a resident of Quaker Path found that a screen window in the garage had been pried open and jewelry was missing from the home at approximately 2 p.m.

An email circulated through the community in the past week warning its recipients of a thief who had broken into a Quaker Path home through the garage and robbed the house while the occupants were inside sleeping, but a police spokesman could not confirm whether there was any truth to the email.
