Armed Robbery at Sports Authority

Man showed gun in waistband, fled with money from safe.

A man entered  in Stony Brook last night, showed an employee a gun stuck in his waistband, and had the store's manager open the safe and put all the money inside into a bag, according to police.

The man - described as white, in his late 30's to early 40's with a medium build and mustache - entered the store just after 9 p.m. and began talking with an employee. He "quietly" announced a robbery, police said, and told the employee to get the manager to let them into the office and open the safe.

After having the manager place the safe's cash in a bag, the man forced the employee and the manager to walk him out of the store through a rear door, police said.
