Silver Alert Issued for Missing Port Jeff Man

Where Are Three Village's Most Ignored Stop Signs?

Stop signs are not optional, but they're sometimes treated as if they are.

There are hundreds of stop signs in Three Village, but unfortunately, too often are they completely ignored by folks in a rush.

These "stop-tional" signs are the ones that drivers treat more as a suggestion than a command. The ones in which a car comes down the road, slightly slows down and then accelerates through the stop sign.

Do you know of a location where a stop sign is frequently rolled through or ignored?

Share where it is in the comments section, below.

Pensdale Court and Pembrook Drive Patriot Court and Pembrook Drive Pembrook Drive is used as a cut through to Oxhead Road instead of using Nichols Road or Stony Brook Road. You take your life in your hands walking or biking down Pembrook Drive.

Thompson Hay Path, or rather Thompson Hay Speedway. Cops could make a fortune staking out the two "stop-tional" signs here.

Hallock Road, Stony Brook Stop Signs. There are numerous and admittedly annoying stop signs on this straightaway. Periodically SCPD set up shop in this area. You can watch them write tickets all day long. Cacth$hing go to the coffers of Suffolk County at the expense of those drivers who think their arrogance is more important than public safety.

Stop signs and red lights are mere suggestions for the drivers in the Three Village area. Like all else their agenda is much more important than following traffic regulations.

Manchester Ln. at Singingwood Dr. , Stony Brook. The sad thing is that the people who pushed to ADD additional Stop signs on Manchester Ln. are the worst offenders. They actually accelerate through the intersection. Crazy.

It's an accident waiting to happen!! There is not any walking area when walking down the hill. But wait when an accident happens, the driver will say I'm really sorry.

In Stony Brook, the stop sign @ rt 347 (WB) turning right (N) onto Hallock Road; drivers think it is a yield & not a stop sign. If you are attempting to leave the Friendly's parking lot, & wish to turn left onto Hallock, you must wait to make sure cars obey that stop sign -- otherwise they could plow into you by the time the driver turns his/her head & realizes you are there. Assume the drivers won't stop -- they rarely do.
