Seven Homes for Rent in Three Village

A quick snapshot of the rental home scene in Three Village.

With bank loans hard to secure in the current economy, renting may be a more viable avenue for people than home ownership.

Maria Palmar, an agent for Jolie Powell Realty in Port Jefferson, sees the positives of renting.

"The rental market is strong," she said. "There's a lot of health in the rental market. You don't have a lot of the problems of home ownership in this economy. You also have the flexibility of moving more easily versus owning a home."

Here's a quick look at some of the houses available for rent in Three Village:

  • For $2,700 a month you and four of your friends/study mates can enjoy a five bedroom, partially furnished cape house in Stony Brook. The unit comes with two bathrooms and is located close to Stony Brook University.
  • If you're looking for something smaller, there's a two-bedroom cottage available in Stony Brook for $1,550 per month. This rental features a new bathroom along with new carpets.
  • If a jacuzzi tub is mandatory in your lifestyle, check out this three-bedroom colonial in Stony Brook that includes it with the $2,600 rent. According to the listing it's a renovated house that retains many of the details from the 1850 original. Bathrooms have been updated recently. No pets allowed at this one.
  • This unit has its three bedrooms spread out over two stories and is located on a dead-end street in Stony Brook. It comes with a brick fireplace and a stone patio with wooden floors inside. Ground care is included.
  • If you're by yourself, this one-bedroom rental might be a good fit for $1,200 a month. Located in Setauket, one mile from Stony Brook University, it comes with a full kitchen and full-sized windows. No pets or smoking allowed.
  • For $2,200 you can live in this three bedroom, 1.5 bath colonial. Located on Main Street in Setauket, it's close to the pond, post office, and other popular areas in town.
  • If a hi-ranch is your idea of a great house, take a look at this three bedroom home with 1.5 bathrooms for $2,000 per month. It features wood floors throughout with stainless steel appliances and granite counters.
