Third Annual 5K Run/Walk and 1K Fun Run to Benefit the SBU Sunrise Fund

Hit the pavement to support children fighting cancer with the Third Annual 5K Run/Walk and 1K Fun Run to benefit the SBU Sunrise Fund. The SBU Sunrise Fund was created in 1999 by concerned parents of patients, and raises money to help children fighting cancer and support their families. This fund team, made up of healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, social workers and childcare specialists, raises money through the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at SBUMC. 

When: Saturday, May 7, 2011 - 1K Fun Run at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m.
Where: The Bench Bar & Grill – the race begins and ends at The Bench.  The course goes through beautiful historic Stony Brook Village and alongside Stony Brook Harbor.
Why Go:  To help fight pediatric cancer and benefit patients being treated at Stony Brook University Medical Center

  • Wheelchair division is included in this year’s run.
  • Free live entertainment, food and beverages provided after the run/walk by The Bench Bar & Grill and Brooklyn Brewery. 
  • Pre-race registration is $20 per person; after May 3 it is $25 per person. 
  • Registration includes running shirt by New Balance (first 600 to register)
