Science on Tap goes Walking on Mars with Scott McLennan

Science on Tap goes: Driving on Mars, hosted by Steven
Reiner with guest, Scott McLennan.

Science on Tap goes driving on Mars, looking for life, or
rather, looking for places where life may once have flourishing perhaps
billions of years ago.  Stony Brook
University professor Scott McLennan is a key member of the science team that
directs the day-to-day work of the Mars rover Curiosity as it
treks across the Martian landscape. He’s also on the team of the rover Opportunity, which
after some 3,620 Martian days is still gamely gathering data and taking
pictures. Come hear Scott tell of the nail-biting moments as Curiosity made
its spectacular landing last August, and of his work checking out rocks that
may still harbor traces of ancient life – should it have ever existed.

In the spirit of Science on Tap, The Stony Brook Yacht Club bar
will be open for business. Food & drink will be available for
purchase.
