Blufish at the Middle grounds!!!
Local fishing report out of Port Jefferson Harbor, Long Island Sound
Seems as though cocktail size Blues have infiltrated the middle grounds. Tough to get to the big Blues and occasional Bass, due to the eagerness and volume of smaller blues. Non the less, they are great fun on light tackle. Small bucktail jigs will do the trick. Blues are spitting up tiny fish and even some squid. Porgies are around as well. Clams in 45-60 ft of water. find a slop/ledge and drift up or down it. use 4-6 oz of lead under most conditions. Lots of throw back sea bass in the mix. Word on the fishing scene is that the big Bass, Blues and even Fluke are in the 90-100 ft range due to hot temps of the summer. i plan on doing a little reconnisance!!!!
Good luck to all
