What Streets in Stony Brook, the Setaukets Haven't Been Plowed Yet?

Help Patch identify the neighborhoods having the most trouble coping with the snow.

On Monday morning – more than 48 hours after the heaviest of the snow began to fall – Three Village Patch posed the is-your-street-plowed-yet question on Facebook.

Here's what we got for the unplowed roads, as of 9:30 a.m.:

  • Woodfield Rd. in Stony Brook
  • "O Section" in Stony Brook
  • Long Hill neighborhood in Stony Brook
  • Cooper Ct. and Quaker Ridge neighborhood in Stony Brook
  • Huyler Rd. in Stony Brook
  • Davidia Ln. in Stony Brook
  • Hollow Ct. in East Setauket
  • Flagpole Ln. in East Setauket
  • Wests Rd. in East Setauket
  • Locust Manor Ct. in East Setauket
  • Woodhull Rd. in East Setauket
  • Bayview Ave. in East Setauket
  • Kenwood Street in East Setauket
  • Surrey Ln. in East Setauket
  • Hancock Ct., Pondfield Crossing Development in South Setauket
  • Fawn Ln. East in South Setauket
  • Grace Ln. in South Setauket
  • Tyburn Ln. in South Setauket
  • Teaberry Ct. in South Setauket

Residents continued to express their frustrations with the lack assistance from Brookhaven Town.

"Plows came around and did my development in Saturday but skipped all the dead end streets. The residents on our street all went out and tried clearing it our selves," Jeanette Ferraro-Heller said.

"No sign of any plow trucks on Harbor Hill Rd at all during and after the blizzard. If it wasn't for our own initiative, we would still be house-bound!" said Monica Aston, whose husband Jeff along with neighbors Tommy Hoffman and Ron Klem used snow blowers to clear their whole street, Harbor Hill Road, on Sunday.

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.

Can you tell us where this property is? An address or street name?

I the BOE and Union didn't allow the majority of the budget be spent on benefits and salaries maybeRead More there would be money left for supplies. With declining enrollment and cuts to programs for our kids they only ones making out are teachers and staff with too generous salaries and benefits. Vote no on Tuesday!

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does itRead More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels ofRead More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
