Week in Review: Brush Fires Contained, Hahn's First 100 Days

Since the beginning of the year, Suffolk County Legis. Kara Hahn, D-Setauket, has met more than 150 times – on average, more than one meeting per day – with local residents, officials, fellow county leaders, not-for-profit organizations, and business leaders to work on the issues facing Suffolk County.


Volunteer firefighters from Stony Brook and Setauket helped put out massive brush fires that were finally contained on Tuesday morning. Firefighters from all over Long Island switched shifts to battle at least four separate blazes that broke out across Manorville, Calverton and other locations in Suffolk County.

Krudmart, a Buffalo-based retailer of clothing and accessories that caters to fans of underground hip hop and rap, opened its second location on March 30 in the East Setauket space formerly home to Saray Jewelers.


A Setauket man has been arrested following an alleged DWI accident that shut Dyke Road near Caroline Ave. on Wednesday night. No one was injured in the accident.

Michael Mangione, 53, of Moriches, was arrested April 7 in East Setauket and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. Police said Mangione put a 55-inch television in a shopping cart at Walmart in East Setauket and left the store through the garden area.
