Things to Do in Three Village: #56 – Volunteer at Stony Brook Hospital

Each year, the hospital relies on hundreds of volunteers to help in various areas.

Research has shown that in multiple ways: not only does the community benefit, but the volunteers themselves often feel healthier and happier.

That's why volunteering at Stony Brook University Medical Center is on our list of things to do in Three Village. In fact, according to hospital data, more than 500 people participate as volunteers each year.

Although the process of becoming a volunteer is a little labor intensive – it requires an application, medical clearance from your doctor, attendance at an orientation program, and in some cases a background check – it can still be rewarding. Kids as young as age 14 can volunteer.
