SBU Bioscience Projects Granted Nearly $500K in Funding

University's biomedical research initiatives receive financial boost.

Stony Brook University's new Bioscience Technology Commercialization Fund has granted nearly $500,000 in funding to six biomedical research projects

Grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 were given for projects related to burn injuries, cancer, cognitive and metabolic disorders, inflammatory diseases and musculoskeletal diseases.

Clinton T. Rubin, chairman of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and director of the Center for Biotechnology, said that the money was designating for advancing research to its "ultimate goal to reach patients with better diagnostics and therapeutics.”
