- The Brookhaven Town Board voted to approve a zoning change for the property, effectively giving the project a green light. The 30 acre development is expected to house 40 retailers, but councilwoman Jane Bonner – in whose district the property sits – believes the project will lead to blight in Mount Sinai.
- A Port Jefferson man was charged with after a fire revealed unsafe living conditions for pets in his Oakwood Road home.
- Facing declining enrollment, the Patchogue-Medford Board of Education discussed the . Three of the district's middle schools are at or below 50 percent capacity and projections show that number decreasing.
