Vacant Bank Building Demolished In Stony Brook

As construction is under way at the Coventry Commons shopping center in Stony Brook, one of the aging buildings, which formerly housed a bank, has been demolished.

A permit posted on the door of the adjacent building, which used to be home to J&R's Steakhouse, shows the Town of Brookhaven issued a permit for its demolition on July 26. Another permit indicates that the J&R's building will also be demolished.

Patch previously reported in July that a new structure at the rear of the property is being built to house Stony Brook Medicine's perioperative services.

Stoneybrook Realty, which manages the Coventry Commons, could not immediately be reached for comment.
