From the owners of El Dorado in Port Jefferson Station comes Cabo Fresh, a California-Mexican-style eatery in Stony Brook that opened in August at 2182 Nesconset Highway. Our advice? Try it for yourself before everyone else in town figures out it’s there.

The Dish: Grilled Steak Burrito Bowl ($7.45)

What’s Inside: Besides the obvious, pretty much anything you want. Cheese, rice, beans, pico de gallo, jalapeños, corn salsa – you name it, you can add it to your burrito bowl. If steak isn’t your dish, you can choose the chicken, roasted beef, pork carnitas, shrimp, or vegetarian option.

Eat this Because: You can pick exactly what goes inside – and you can watch the crew make it for you, too.

Side Dish: You can’t go wrong with chips and guacamole ($3.25) or salsa ($2.15) on the side, or pair your burrito bowl with a margarita ($5) or fruit smoothie ($4.45-$5.45).
