There's a (warranted) newness about the Ten 89 Noodle House, which opened the first week in January at 1089 Route 25A in Stony Brook. Noodle conoisseurs should flock to this self-service eatery, which for many reasons feels a little more polished than many other nearby Chinese restaurants.
The Dish: Singapore Rice Noodles ($6.95)
What's Inside: Chicken, shrimp, and pork with a pile of curry rice noodles, which boasts a mild heat rather than a big kick.
Eat This Because: When we said "pile," we really meant "huge pile." It's enough for at least two meals. And it took just minutes for the food to arrive, though that may change, of course, once the restaurant gains more notoriety.
Side Dish: The menu boasts moderately priced dishes, with most in the $6 to $7 range, but no higher than $10. It features more than a dozen types of noodle soups, nearly 30 types of noodle platters, the usual appetizers, and dozens of other dishes.
