Introducing 347 Stories, Our Look at Life on the Fast Lane

Major roadway a source of business and activities and many, many stories that Patch plans to tell over 2012.

There are a handful of Main Streets in the Three Village and Port Jefferson areas, but it's hard to have a discussion about these hubs of commerce and activity without including Route 347 in the discussion.

But it's not just about the businesses. Like other areas in the community, Route 347 has it's share of blight. We'll find out what's going on there. Also, the construction to convert the roadway into Long Island's first "greenway" is coming this way. , and we'll keep the community updated on how soon they can expect those problems to hit home.

Like any of our work at Patch, involving the community is key. So as we kick off this series we invite you to share how you use the businesses along Route 347. Where are your favorites? What stories do you want to see told? What problems need further probing?
