Bella Dolce Stays Open Under New Management

New owners take over Oct. 1.

Bella Dolce, a much-loved dessert café in East Setauket, is under new ownership after its previous owners decided to focus on their wholesale gelato business.

"As of October 1, you'll see friendly new faces," former manager Corinne Zarou said. "The gelato, sorbetto and soft serve, the best on this side of the pond, will remain. We found a lovely young couple who is as passionate as we are to continue serving the community."

In August, Patch reported that the owners of Bella Dolce were selling the business or considering closing its doors in September. Zarou previously said the wholesale end of her family's Bella Dolce business, Palazzolo's, is preparing to expand with more sales people and trucks, saying the wholesale business is "exploding."

"As regulars came pouring in over the last few days, they approached me and said, 'Well?' I said to them, 'Bella Dolce is staying. We are not closing our doors,'" said Zarou, whose family also owns Zaro's Café in Huntington Station. "They are ecstatic."
