Production Company Films Movie in Old Field

German company shoots at the lighthouse.

A German film production company has wrapped up a movie shoot at Old Field's historic lighthouse.

The company Van Wormer International filmed a made-for-television flick, Lighthouse with a View, between Sept. 1 and Sept. 18, according to village clerk Dale Salzberg.

"They did some painting in the keeper’s house," Salzberg said at the village's Sept. 13 meeting. "They’ve polished up the upstairs of the keeper’s house. It’s adorable."

According to Old Field mayor Michael Levine, the company paid the village $12,750 to use the lighthouse for its project.

At Old Field's Sept. 13 board meeting, Levine joked that the village "should get an agent." Attorney Anthony Guardino suggested the village adopt a measure in the future that covers filming in Old Field, just as villages like Sands Point and Old Westbury have.

"If we believe that there will be other opportunities, we could draft a local law that sort of lays out all the obligations, the insurance, what the rate is," Guardino said.

Lighthouse with a View will air in Germany on an unknown date. The movie is based on the novel Practically Perfect by Katie Fforde.
