Folk Goddesses at Grounds and Sounds
On Friday, January 13 at 8:00 p.m., Grounds and Sounds Café, the monthly live music coffee house in East Setauket, NY, will present The Folk Goddesses. This new trio combines the guitars, the songwriting, and the harmonies of three of Long Island’s favorite performers: Martha Trachtenberg, Judith Zweiman and Hillary Foxsong. Trachtenberg is a founding member of the Buffalo Gals, has worked in Nashville, done several TV commercials, and is a member of the group Return to the Dream. Zweiman was part of the early NYC folk scene and has recorded numerous times for Fast Folk Musical Magazine (now Smithsonian-Fast Folk). She was also featured in several of the Fast Folk Revues at the Bottom Line in NYC. And Foxsong is one-third of the popular harmony trio Gathering Time, and a respected songwriter and performer and a member in her own right. Together, the trio are delighting critics and audiences across Long Island:
"The FOLK GODDESSES -- each a musical Goddess in her own right -- are making pan-theists of music-lovers everywhere." Island Songwriters Showcase
"The harmonies are angelic with a delightfully devilish touch." WhereforeArts.com
