Annual Best of the Open Mic Show at Grounds and Sounds Cafe
On April 8, at 8:00 p.m., Grounds and Sounds Café, hosts its annual Best of the Open Mic Show to give local performers a chance to showcase their songwriting and singing talents before a lively and welcoming audience. This year, Grounds and Sounds has invited two open mic regulars, Rick Cashman and Mary Timmons. Rick Cashman has been the most frequent performer at the Grounds and Sounds open mic. Rick is a great story teller, who writes intelligent and thoughtful songs and brings a note of humor and humanity to every song he pens. Mary Timmons plays a mix of her own original music, and well-crafted covers that range from Paul Simon to The Indigo Girls to John Prine. With hints of bluegrass and country in her playing and singing, she has greatly impressed Grounds and Sounds audiences with her beautiful voice and finger-picking guitar style. Tickets are $12.50 and can be purchased online at www.groundsandsounds.org.
Grounds and Sounds, the monthly live music coffee house in East Setauket, NY, is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook (www.UUFSB.org), a non-profit religious organization. 631-751-0297
