10 Places to Catch a Holiday Show

Three Village is home to a wealth of music and theater performances for both Hannukah and Christmas this holiday season.

Spend some quality time with family and friends this holiday season by attending a show together in the Three Village area. Whether your style is classic instrumentals, the Christmas music of your youth, or modern rock, there is a holiday celebration with a performance for you. Here are some shows coming up this month:

1. Catch a holiday concert at the , where the Leahy family will be performing Christmas carols, Celtic tunes, and traditional hymns at "A Leahy Family Christmas" on Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $38. Staller also hosts "The Nutcracker Ballet" from Dec. 19 through Dec. 19; visit the center's calendar for times and tickets.

2. is hosting a performance by Transitions Saxophone Quartet, who will be performing music from Baroque to popular holiday selections, including classical works by Bach and Debussy. The event is Dec. 11 at 1 p.m., and is open to all library members.

3. On Dec. 18, head down to the Bernie Friend Latke Bash at and  enjoy latkes made by the temple’s Brotherhood, as well as a Zimriah, or song festival, from the youth group.

4. Families can attend a Hannukah celebration on Dec. 17 at the Suffolk Y JCC.  The night will begin at 6 p.m. with latkes, dreidel games, and a community menorah lighting followed by a concert by rock singer Sheldon Low at 7 p.m.

5. On the same night, you can also attend an adults-only Hanukkah party dubbed "Latkes and Vodka" at the from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., featuring a performance by singer Mark Philip. A donation of an unwrapped children's gift is requested. If you cannot find a babysitter, the CJC will provide free babysitting services from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

6. Instead of watching the Peanuts classic, see "" performed live by the Players on Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. in the LGI theater.

7. Stop by the to see "Home for the Holidays with Bob Hope," a musical theatre tribute and luncheon in tribute to Bob Hope. Enjoy live performances of Hope’s classic songs every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. through Jan. 8 except on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

8. Catch a performance of "A Christmas Carol" or the children's show "Barnaby Saves Christmas" at in Port Jefferson through Dec. 27. Click here for a calendar of showtimes.

9. Family is truly what the holiday season is about, and though yours may not be as musical as the Von Trapps, you can still take them to see "The Sound of Music" at the .  Shows are at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on the Sundays up until Christmas, and tickets are $28 for adults and $18 for children and students.

10. Bring the story of Christmas to life for your kids and go for a drive through a living nativity presented by the .  Between 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Dec. 9 through Dec. 11, one can see the town of Bethlehem, Roman soldiers, wise men, angels, Joseph and Mary, and more. There will free hot cocoa and giveaways for the kids.
