May 3: The Team to Beat, the Folks to Meet

A high-profile lacrosse game and a school board candidate event set for Tuesday.

In case you missed last week's lacrosse matchup against West Islip, Tuesday's contest against Sachem North promises some real action. And in case you missed Monday's candidate meet-and-greet at the civic association meeting, that promises to be interesting as well.

1. Ward Melville has one of the top boys' lacrosse teams to beat on Long Island, and visiting Sachem North is going to try and do just that at 4:15 p.m. Both teams own national LaxPower rankings, and look for the game to be as tough as .

2. A second "Meet the Candidates" night is set for 7:30 p.m. at Ward Melville High School, where residents who couldn't attend Monday's civic association meeting can hear what the eight candidates have to say.

3. The series continues at the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library at 10 a.m. The event is free but requires registration; call the library at 631-941-4080 for more information.

4. It never hurts to network a little. Join Setauket-based Marketing Works for a business networking session at 6 p.m. at John Harvard's in Lake Grove. If you can't make today's meeting, the group meets the first Tuesday of each month.
