May 2: Ward Melville Art Department Needs Votes

Civic association to meet for school budget discussion, candidate meet-and-greet.

Get ready to vote – for now, for the Ward Melville art department, and later this month, for the school budget and board of education candidates. Here are the details.

1. The Ward Melville art department needs your help. Art teacher Jim Swierupski and students Omar Field Rahman, Holly Manz, Mary Kate Anselmini, Kerrilyn McDonald, Elizbeth Serdock Porto, and Robin Caselli designed a pair of custom Vans sneakers to try and snag a $50,000 grand prize for the art department, but they need every vote they can get. Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. on May 2. Visit the Vans Custom Culture website, and pick "Ward Melville HS" from the list of Northeast Regional semifinalists.

2. The will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library at 7:30 p.m. This month's topic: the adopted school budget and the board of education candidates, who will themselves be present at the meeting.
