These local activities are sure to keep your kids busy.

Welcome to our Grab & Go Kids Planner, a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities in the Three Village Area. Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week. You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Where/When: Setauket Elementary School, Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy a fun-filled evening for the whole family with an educational twist. Activities include folktales, games, food and crafts from around the world.

Where/When: West Meadow Beach, Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Why Go: Kids ages 9 to 12 will join an environmental ranger for a hike to explore the salt marsh and identify the plants and animals of West Meadow's varied habitats. Participants will keep a nature journal to track their experiences and will earn an official Ranger patch at the end of each season completed.
Price: Free, registration is required

Where/When: Setauket Neighborhood House, Saturday, March 12 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Why Go: Celebrate Irish traditions with your family and friends at the Neighborhood House. There will be a corned beef and cabbage dinner, beer, desserts, Irish dancers, troubadour Patrick McGough, and Irish soda bread contest.
Price: $50.00 per person, $45.00 SNH members

  • ADOPT A PET AT SAVE-A-PET'S

Where/When: 608 Route 112, Port Jefferson Station, Saturday, March 12 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 from 12-4 p.m.
Why Go: If you're looking to adopt a family pet, head to Save-A-Pet for a March Madness event. This weekend includes free adoptions of all dogs over the age of 4, plus a special offer of $50 for vaccines, spaying and neutering for cats next door at the C.L.I.F.F.S. Clinic.
Price: Free adoptions, $50 spay/neuter

Where/When: Smithtown Center for the Preforming Arts, Saturday, March 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: This murder mystery play written by Agatha Christie has been running since 1952. Until this day, audience members are still asked not to reveal its twist ending.
Price: Adults $26 – $30, Children/Students $18
