#94 – Go Bird Watching at Area Parks and Beaches

Between brave wintertime birds and the winged, warmer-weather arrivals, you can go bird watching pretty much anytime in Three Village.

Whether your style is a solo walk through nature or a guided tour of your surroundings, bird watching in Three Village can be a relaxing, rewarding pastime.

The area's abundant parks offer prime viewing territory, and whether you prefer to walk Trustees Road at West Meadow Beach on your own or join local experts for a guided birdwatching experience, there are plenty of options.

Just this coming weekend, for instance, there's an and another at . Both are regular events. Plus, there's a bird walk for adults at West Meadow Beach coming up on March 26 at 9 a.m.

Stony Brook Harbor is listed as a top spring birdwatching spot on Long Island, according to libirding.com, which has reported sightings of egrets, tern, sandpipers, kingfishers and more on the sand flats there. Avalon joins Stony Brook Harbor on the same website's list of great summer spots for birdwatching.

Don't forget your own backyard, either – plenty of local home goods stores have premade birdhouses, or you can make one with the kids to enjoy a fun activity as an added bonus before the birds arrive.
