Firefighters Knock Down South Setauket House Fire

Early morning fire ripped through an Arbor Ridge Lane home.

Firefighters from the Setauket Fire Department and the Selden Fire Department responded to a fire on Arbor Ridge Lane in South Setauket at approximately 2:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to Chief Dennis Mirante, the fire was under control within 15 minutes, and there were no injuries to either the residents of the home or the firefighters at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by town fire marshals and the Suffolk County Police arson squad, which Mirante said is a normal response.

"Once we had all the lines in place, our crews had a very aggressive attack and we knocked it down pretty quickly," Mirante said. "The whole front of the building was ablaze and the fire had gone into the first and second floor rooms."

Mirante said crews were on the scene from 2:57 a.m. to 4:32 a.m., and were later called back to the scene to handle a smoldering pocket of flames in a closet

The Terryville Fire Department stood by for the Setauket Fire Department and the Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps. responded to conduct a rehab function at the scene.
