School District Hires New Security Consultant

New safety and security oversight coordinator begins post June 1.

With unanimous approval from the school board, the Three Village Central School District on Tuesday formally hired Island Compliance Corporation as a consultant to manage its security procedures.

Island Compliance Corporation received a 13-month contract for $85,000 beginning June 1.

The company's owner, Jack Blaum, is no stranger to the Three Village Central School District. He has worked with BOCES since 2002 as a safety officer in the district and will now take on the role of safety and security oversight coordinator.

Blaum said he spent 26 years as a detective in Suffolk County, with a specialty in arson and a certificate in security management. He is a 33-year member of a south shore fire department, twice serving as its chief, and is an instructor at the Suffolk County Fire Academy.

"I'm looking forward to cooperating with the board and the community to change our culture of security," Blaum said Tuesday.

Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich said she is excited to be working with Blaum in this capacity.

"He is very familiar with the school district and with the community," she said. "He is extraordinarily well trained and I believe is the perfect person to take on this responsibility."
