Morning Tech Talk: Sharing Video Using Twitter's Vine

What's All This Vine Stuff About? Twitter's New Vine App Is Shaking Things Up!

There are several ways to post video online, but none are generating as much hype as Vine. So, what is it, why is it, and what can we do with it?

Founded by Dom Hofmann and Rus Yusupov, Vine began its life in June 2012 and was purchased by social media company Twitter in October 2012. Released as a free app to the iOS market in January 2013, Vine quickly became the number one video sharing app in the marketplace. Lovely... So what is it?

Vine is a quick and easy way to get your message across using six second video shorts, or vines as they say. Meant to be real life motion, you can't edit or add audio to your video, just shoot and post. However, being creative beings as we are, users have posted some really amazing vines. Shooting is done by holding your finger on the touchscreen of your device. Stop motion videos are created by releasing and reapplying your finger during your video.

What can we do with it? Well, we can experience it! By taking part in it we become attached to the vine and part of a more collective communication method. Let your imagination fly with short films of your life. Share personal experiences like never before. Get your videos straight from the vine!
